I think I have talked about him before, but Ed Ruscha is my favorite artist. He's still living. The Modern in Ft. Worth has several of his pieces. You can look him up in Wikipedia. He paints lots of different things, but the majority of his paintings include words or phrases superimposed on some kind of background.
